Revisiting Mount St. Helens Coach Tour
Tour the breathtaking site of one of the most visually dramatic natural disasters in American history.
The eruption of Mt St. Helens in 1980 was one of the most powerful natural disasters in American history. The eruption literally blew the top off the mountain and covered the surrounding areas for hundreds of miles in a thick, gray coating of ash. This full-day tour takes your guests into the blast zone, to the edge of the crater where we can observe this still-active volcano.
At the Johnston Ridge Observatory, your group will be able to see:
- The dramatic landscape that resulted from the eruption, including the steaming lava dome
- Interpretive displays and videos that examine the eruption and its impact
- Monitoring of ongoing seismic activity
- Eye-witness reports and before/after pictures of the eruption
On the way to and from the crater, our informative Resident Experts will share Mt St. Helens' fiery story and point out the numerous scenic landmarks along the route.
Due to heavy snow on the mountain, the Mt St. Helens tour is only guaranteed to be available from May to the end of October.
By arrangement for private groups only.
